S.M. The Ballad

On November 2010, S.M. Entertainment said that Jonghyun, Jay from TRAX, Kyuhyun from Super Junior, and new singer, Jino, was formed into a project group called SM The Ballad under their company. The group is based on ballad music. They focus on ballad music rather then R&B themed music. SM The Ballad released their debut album on November 29 2010. It's called "Miss You". The group debuted on November 28, 2010 with their lead single on SBS's Inkigayo. They also ppromoted "Hot Times". Another single from the album.

Solo Work

Jonghyun was featured in a duet with a Chinese lable-mate, Zhang Li-Yin before he debuted. They sang "Wrongly Given Love".

On 2008, Jonghyun sang a solo called "Y Si Fuera Ella" For SHINee's debut album, "The SHINee World". It was originally a spanish song from Alejandro Sanz.

On October 2010, Jonghyun recored the song, "Let's Go", alongside 20 idols from other South Korean bands. The purpose was for increasing public participation for the 2010 G-20 Seoul summit. Jonghyun sang alongside with fellow label-mates, Sungmin from Super Junior, Seohyun from Girls Generation, and Luna from F(X).

On June 2011, Jonghyun recorded a song called, "So Goodbye" for a drama series called, "City Hunter". The song was released on June 3rd, 2011 for City Hunter OST Part 2.

Composing Work

Jonghyun has written the lyrics for some songs for 3 of SHINee's albums. He wrote the lyrics of "Juliette" for the 2nd mini album, Romeo, Obsession, and a part of "Up & Down" in their 2nd Studio album, "Lucifer".

For their 4th mini album, Jonghyun wrote the lyrics for "Honesty" and "Alarm Clock". "Honesty" was written based on giving thanks to their fans for giving lots of non-love until now. "Alarm Clock" was written with fellow SHINee member, Minho. It's about hoping to wake up from a nightmare of a past breakup.

Jonghyun also has written the lyrics for "Spoiler", "Orgel", and "Dangerous" from the 2013 Misconceptions album.

TV Shows

Jonghyun and his fellow members appeared on the television show, Idol Maknae Rebellion, as guest stars in episodes 4 and 5. Jonghyun also was a guest. But, this time, Taemin, Key and Onew accompanied Jonghyun. Jonghyun and the other SHINee members also appeared in various variety shows such as, Star Golden Bell, Star King, Taxi, and Beetles Code 2.

On November 6, 2009, Yesung from Super Junior, made a surprise guest appearance on KBS's Music Bank and replaced Jonghyun. He was recovering from influenza, in a performance of SHINee's popular song, Ring Ding Dong. Jonghyun and Yesung from Super Junior also was a cast member on KBS's Immortal Song 2 on 2 episodes.

Personal Life

Jonghyun did not got to kindergarten.

On October 12, 2010, in Jakarta, Indonesia, at Korea-Indonesia Sharing Friendship Concert, Jonghyun was mobbed by excited fans and had ligament injuries to his left ankle. After arriving home in Seoul, Jonghyun immediately went to the hospital and recieved a small cast to protect his ankle. However, SM said that his injury was not serious and he and the rest of SHINee could proceed to promote their single, "Hello". During their first Japanese concert in Tokyo, Jonghyun was took out of some of SHINee's songs that had complicated dance moves due to his ankle injury.

On November 15, 2010, Jonghyun's absence during an event, honoring the 20th anniversary of SBS, in which SHINee performed, SM revealed that Jonghyun was suffering from constant pain from his ankle injury from the previous month. SM said that "they would lower intense choreography in their performances for Jonghyun". Jonghyun couldn't dance along his members for about several months.

On October 20 2010, Jonghyun was caught with actress Shin Se Kyung dating by local news reporters. Their agencies confirmed their relationship on October 26th. After 9 months, Shin Se Kyung and Jonghyun broke up saying because of their busy schedules.

On January 17, 2011, Jonghyun recieved surgery for his left ankle to repair the injury from October 2010. His injury was thought to be minor but, after a better examination, they stated it requires surgery. Due to recovery from the surgery, Jonghyun was not able to perform with his members at the 20th Seoul Musics Award on January 20, 2011. Because of his surgery, he was abent for several more months before his ankle was strong enough and he was able to do all of SHINee's dance moves and activities.

On April 1, 2013, Jonghyun ran into some guard rails on Dongho Bridge while driving his car to return to the dorm after visiting his parents. He recieved treatment for his nose fracturein the emergency room at a Gangnam hospital. He didn't have any major injuries. On May 23, 2013, Jonghyun has fully recovered and has united with his members once again.
